A shallow ridge of high pressure will move eastwards across the British Isles today but an Atlantic frontal system will follow from the west tonight.

Cape Wrath to Rattray Head including Orkney - Strong winds are forecast

24 hour forecast: Southeast 4 or 5 at first near Orkney, otherwise variable 3 or less, but becoming southeast 5 or 6 later. Moderate, occasionally rough in east. Showers. Moderate or good, occasionally poor.

Outlook:  Southeast 5 to 7 veering south or southwest 4 or 5, occasionally 3 later. Moderate, occasionally rough at first in east, but becoming slight in Moray Firth. Occasional rain. Moderate or good, occasionally poor at first.

Rattray Head to Berwick upon Tweed

24 hour forecast: Variable 3 or less, becoming southeast 4 or 5 later. Rough at first in north, otherwise moderate. Showers. Moderate or good, occasionally poor.
