I learnt to windsurf in Barbados in 1997 with the UKSA and was immediately hooked. My years at Uni after that consisted of staring dreamily out of the window in lectures to see if the trees were moving, and if there was any sign of wind I'd pack up my books and rush down to the beach.
In 2002 when I graduated I thought it might be fun to travel around the world, windsurfing and surfing, and postpone getting a proper job for as long as possible. After a few months spent in Western Australia and Maui over the winter, I started competing in the UK and PWA wave contests in the summer of 2003. My best results are 6th Overall in PWA Women's Waves 2003, 3rd in the UK Wave Championships 2004-2005, and 4th overall in UK Freewave 2006.
I'm now working in Romsey and living in Lymington in Hampshire, and I'm more focused on enjoying windsurfing in my spare time and writing travel features on any new locations I travel to. The best beaches in my local area are Avon Beach, Highcliffe and a secret spot in the Solent that hasn't been kept a very good secret! My favourite kit set-up is an Ezzy Wave Panther 4.7m and a small RRD wave board. My Wave Cult HCW 65 Ltd used to be the best board I'd ever used, but I've just received a new RRD Twin 74 which I can't wait to try out in the waves - I've heard great things about it.
