West Kirby bonus whilst the banks are shut

sSs Team Rider, Carl Tomlison is a regular contributor to our news page and heres a quick update from last weekend:
Two days of solid 4.5 m sailing at West Kirby, can’t be bad! The house is nearly finished so instead of DIY, I managed to spend the whole of Saturday practicing some well overdue freestyle and, lo, forward loops on starboard tack on the Dee Estuary when the tide came in. There were some nice little 1-2 ft ramps perfect for forwards and as the only trick in my trick bag I can’t do on both tack is forwards on starboard. It was the perfect opportunity to stop wussing about and get it nailed. So after a couple of “spin ˝ way round and splat onto the backs”, it started to come together and by the end of the day I’d scored one landing in the straps sail upright.
After a long day on Saturday it took quite a while to loosen up for another session on Sunday which was ballistic survival in the morning, so I waited it out until the wind become more manageable and had the Lake more or less to myself for some freestyle in the late afternoon early evening. Warm, sunny with a clear blue sky and a crystal clear view of the backdrop of the rolling green hills of North Wales was the perfect end to a great weekend session.
Carl is also team rider for Aloha sailboard in Cheshire |
