Lazy wind Lanzo
28th Jul 2010 @ 06:09:55 AM
sSs Team Rider, Carl Tomlinson, joined the PWA in Lanzarote, albeit as a spectator and brings us this report of his trip...
''I’d been looking forward to my trip to Lanzorote for ages, its not the most challenging place to sail, but its warm sunny and usually you can expect the trades to blow a steady Bf 5-6 for 10 of the 14 days on a 2 week trip and have at least 3-5 days of big rolling swells to practice jumps. My anticipation was even more heightened as the Spring wore on and as we all soon came to realise the jet stream has moved this year and affected our normal weather systems to the detriment of windsurfers just about everywhere in the Northern Hemisphere! And so it was to be in Lanzo.
The trip started with my sails being left on the runway at Manchester airport….for heavens sake how do you miss a massive trolley of bags and forget to load it onto a plane? Anyway they arrived a day too late for one of the 4 proper windy days doh!
Anyway enough bleating, I managed to land a flaka, still haven’t got them dialled but I’m happy to say I got this, my second, after landing my first in Mauritius last October. More focused practice required I think!
We had a number of semi planning days, which was frustrating but good on the water time. The PWA didn’t get enough wind to really finish the competition, but it was great to see all the top competitors firing and pulling out some amazing tricks in only just planning conditions.
See you on the water…..''
