Pearse X-Fires through Round 3
21st Jul 2010 @ 09:59:11 AM
“Round 3 of the Irish Slalom Series took place from 17-18th July 2010 at Downings, Co. Donegal. With 99 competitors, it was the largest windsurfing event on the Irish Windsurfing Calendar so far this year, and with wind having filled in nicely to 20-25 knots, the racing had promised to be excellent. MauiSails / RRD / bigsurf.ie team rider Pearse Geaney (IR100) took 5 out of 8 race wins to seal the overall victory...
In Pearse’s own words...After an epic Round 1, and no wind at Round 2, the stakes were all to play for at Round 3. I rode a MauiSails TR6-XT 7.6m and RRD X-Fire 102 LTD all weekend in winds from 13 (only 13!) to 25 knots, and the gear performed brilliantly. When powered it was totally controllable at high speeds, yet it still had the power to drive through the low winds out on the course when the wind dropped. I knew the board was fast, as the previous week I had GPS’d it at 33 knots in light conditions, so I knew it had real potential...the wind range is amazing. Now I’m looking forward to the next race event in August!”
