Wonderful weeks of weather and wonderful new boards from Aloha...
21st Sep 2009 @ 01:58:13 PM
sSs Team Rider, Carl Tomlinson, has enjoyed this summers sailing and the 'cherry on the cake' was the arrival of his new 2010 RRD boards. Carl reflects on a summer of love...
'Funny thing the weather, just like buses, none for ages and then all of a sudden it comes all at once.
The combination of West Kirby re-opening, the right weather patterns and a spell of local work has enabled me to spend much more time on the water and I’ve enjoyed every second of it. I hope you’ve enjoyed it too!
Since the end of July I’ve been logging my sessions on iwindsurf. I sailed 12 times in August, that’s pretty impressive for me as I’m often away from home with my job so have been a “weekend warrior” for the last 3 years. I guess I’ve been lucky as I’ve been able to work locally recently and this has enabled me to get some after work sessions in at West Kirby when the wind has been in and my freestyle has definitely progressed.
July was also a good month as I had 10 days in Lanzorote and 2 great after work sessions at Rhosneigr, where after quite a long period of focus I finally landed my first back loop clean as whistle. I was totally stoked! A big thanks to Jem Hall who has been passing me tips, feedback and encouragement for a while now.
The high pressure that arrived at the beginning of September has put an end to the run of lots of sailing! However his enthusiasm for windsurfing didn't wane with the change in weather as Carl picked up his new RRD boards from Len at Aloha Sailboards on 12th September and had this to say. “This years Twintip 100, looks even better than last year, a little shorter and narrower so it’s more compact”. “The Thruster 68 looks awesome; it was difficult call between another Twinzer 74 and the Thruster 68 but settled for the Thruster in the end and I can’t wait to get it onto some waves!” |
