sSs team riders Connor Bainbridge and Ian Robbo Roberts recently headed out of sunny Manchester to even sunnier Prasonisi, Rhodes, for a week of intensive training with sSs team coach Jem Hall.

Sunshine and great winds greeted the party, which included 10 others from across Europe, there to gain the knowledge from the legendary and incredibly passionate Jem Hall.

“The trip gave me the opportunity to really get to know my new RRD Twin Tip 100 – and what a board it is!” stated Robbo. “Having Jem around also meant I could tweak it to get the set up perfect for when West Kirby opens (which is due to be later this month).”

For Connor, the week was spent perfecting the Flaka’s, one-handed flaka’s, funnels and various other twisty freestyle moves! His sailing improved dramatically during the week, particularly in terms of the level of consistency of the moves.

Jem’s full-on approach meant that on-water time was maximised, and therefore learning optimised.

Video de-briefings and analysis and feedback regularly went on until 11pm, but with Jem’s inimitable fun style, the learning and development of everyone on the course never stopped – nor did the laughter.

One thing that became absolutely clear to all during the week is that the passion and enthusiasm of Jem is contagious – you can’t help but come back desperate for more time on the water – perhaps with a few days rest first!!
