Podium for Skyeboy in UKWA Ireland event.

    12th May 2009 @ 02:53:51 PM

RRD International and sSs Team Rider, John Skye, is just back from the UKWA event in Brandon Bay where conditions were extreme as you can see from the photos. This is what John had to say:

''I have just come back from a pretty amazing event in Ireland. I think probably the most extreme conditions I have ever sailed in.

The double elimination final was held in totally overpowered 3.6 weather, cross offshore, with over mast high waves breaking up to a kilometre out to sea. I used the 74 wave Twin and after finishing 2nd in the single elimination I had to beat the winner twice to take the victory.

I managed to win the first heat, but didn't have a good second heat and just lost out the top spot to Jamie Hancock. Obviously I would rather have won, but it is still good for my overrall rankings this year.

This weekend we have the next round of the wave tour, but the forecast isn't looking great. If it ends up light winds I have my RRD X-fire 112 and will have a go at the slalom. Should be fun, its been a while since I raced.''

sSs team rider, James Cox, won the painfull prize of a damaged ankle at the event, but still managed to hold a respectable place in the middle of the fleet.
